Break of Dawn

The incessant rain brought much discomfort.
Whenever the distant rumble of storm was heard, the villagers ran for shelter.
Shortly after, the skies would be a thick blanket of angry dark clouds strewn with slivers of lightning.

The villagers had no idea what had angered the gods.
Hence, all they could do was to pray and make peace offerings.
Fortunately, their prayers were answered.

The first rays broke through the dark clouds and lit up the cold wet grounds.
The villagers peeped apprehensively from their windows.
They rejoiced when the balls of grey cotton finally retreated beneath the horizon and were replaced by the warmth of golden rays.

But how long would this last?
